With a Newborn…Who Has Time to Update??

Hello friends and family,

Yes, updating this blog hasn’t been as easy with a newborn who loves to be held all day long.  Our life sure has changed in the past couple of months and we’re trying to keep our sanity through all of it.  I don’t know where the day goes, but it sure does fly by and nothing around the house gets done until Ryan gets home.  I’m lucky if I get to take a shower that’s longer than 5 minutes.  Somedays, there just isn’t time to wash the hair and shaving my legs has become a luxury :0).  The Cam man is really growing and a happy little guy.  He’s now weighing in at a little over 8 pounds!  He’s also crawling already, no not really.  He’s starting to get into somewhat of a routine.  He sleeps the longest after his 9 or 10 pm bottle.  He’s been known to sleep until 4 am - which makes mom and dad very happy.  But after his 4 am bottle, he’ll only sleep for another hour or two and then wants to cuddle with us in bed.  The good news is that he’ll sleep until 8 or 9 if he gets to snuggle up to one of us.  Luckily, Camden loves to meet friends for lunch and shop!  He tends to sleep well when we’re out and about which is good for my sanity.  The evenings tend to be his more awake time with dad and if he chooses to be grumpy, it’ll be in the evening.  Thank goodness there’s two of us for those productions.  I honestly don’t know how single parents do it.  I have a whole new respect for single parent families.

As for his health, his oxygen level was tested today and his saturation level was in the mid 90s while eating so the oxygen tanks are leaving the Pinke household next week!  When we met with the hernia surgeon a couple of weeks ago, he was very impressed with the condition of his left testicle and wants to see Camden in six months.  Finally, his iron levels are in the normal range so that’s of no concern any longer either.  For now, the only thing left to worry about is the opening in his heart valve that has hopefully closed by now.  He’ll have an echo in two weeks, so cross your fingers.  If it’s not closed, he’ll have to have surgery.

So, you could say it’s been busy around here.  The Sugars came out to meet the little peanut and were a great help around here cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, entertaining us, etc.  Sugar Mama and Sugar Daddy even took him for a night so that we could get a full nights sleep.  It was hard to see them leave!!!

We hope you all are healthy and happy.  If you happen to wake up tonight around 4 am to pee or something, just think of us…awake…feeding the little angel boy and be grateful that you get to go right back to sleep.

xoxo

Happy New Year!

Hello friends!

We hope you had a Merry Christmas! Ours turned out to be a bit different than originally planned. We brought Camden to the mountains for his first trip to the condo and had planned to spend Christmas there. Unfortunately, Ryan’s grandma Pinke passed away suddenly on the 23rd so we packed up our gear and headed back down the mountain to prepare for a road trip to Fargo. We would leave Denver on the 24th, stay overnight in Nebraska and arrive in Fargo sometime Christmas Day in the afternoon. No more one day trips to Fargo. Ryan put it best when he said that it’s like an anchor is attached to our car. Everything goes just a little bit slower. It would be Camden’s first road trip and we wondered how it would go. Luckily, newborns sleep more than not, so it was a smooth ride. We arrived at Grandma and Grandpa Pinke’s just in time for the Pinke Christmas. Camden of course was the star of the show and got to meet all of his ND relatives.

Camden was spoiled for his first Christmas. Grandma Carol made him his first quilt full of ABCs. She’ll have him reading in no time! While there, dad had to take his little guy to his first (of many) trips to Fleet Farm. It is the Man’s Store you know.

Currently, we’re spending the weekend in the mountains. There’s a winter storm here and we’re cozied up. Camden is doing well and is weighing in close to a whopping 6 pounds and getting too long for his preemie clothes. He’s even graduated out of preemie diapers and now fashions newborn sized diapers. We have an appointment with the surgeon who performed the hernia surgery this week to see if there was an permanent damage or to see if there’s a chance of a hernia on the left side.

He also will meet the Sugars this week who will be visiting from Minnesota. I’m guessing there will be some more spoiling involved while they’re in town!

We hope your 2008 is fun-filled and full of little miracles.

xoxo
