Sleepless in Denver
We’re coming up on two weeks home with the little squeaker and it’s been fun-filled! Which means two weeks of not too much sleep (which has become our biggest adjustment). My goodness, it’s not easy waking up several times in a night. We miss our friend, Sleep. My mom and brother have been here all week and it’s been nice to have an instant babysitter. Grandma Gloria doesn’t go far from the little guy. She even took him for a night so Ryan and I could get a full nights sleep - what a blessing! We even had an night out while she babysat.
Camden is adjusting well to home life. He pretty much just eats, poops, and sleeps over and over. We like to throw a bath into his routine here and there when we can. Robb has been our own personal photographer and has gotten some great shots of the little elf.
We can’t take him to the mountains quite yet. His red blood cell count is still low and until that gets into normal range he needs to stay at 5,000 feet. We’re hoping that by Christmas he’ll be good to go. He still uses a small amount of oxygen when eating, but already we’ve noticed that he’s making improvements in the suck, swallow, breathing game as well. I’m not exactly sure what his weight is today, but will guess that he’s doubled his birth weight and is in the high four pound range. We have a doctor appointment on Friday and will know his weight then. For now, we pretty much have to stay home to keep him out of germ’s way (doctor’s orders). It’s a dirty, dirty world out there for a preemie.
We sure can’t complain…life is good. We’re excited to have a peaceful Christmas with our little miracle. We’re very lucky.
Take care!
xoxo
